Dogs Night Out

I started walking dogs from the local shelter here in Playa Flamingo. I need to get the lay of the land if we decide to add to our family before we leave!! Plus, I just like walking dogs. This is Sophie and Rudy taking a break on the beach. They weren’t into the ocean so much, but really liked rolling around in the sand.

This is me with Luisa and Crackers. They are the two dogs we sponsored for a Dogs Night Out event sponsored by Barbara’s Animal Shelter.

The event is a dinner for both humans and dogs. Before the dinner started we picked up our dates for the night. The whole crew knew it was a special night, so much barking!

Sweet Luisa catching a ride with us.

We went for a walk on the beach to tire the pups out a bit before the dinner.

Lydia and Tess opined about the difficulty of walking dogs.

We all arrive in one piece!!!

Checking in. I can’t get enough of Luisa’s sweet face.

The vibe of the night.

For an event with 30 dogs present, the night was remarkably tranquila.

An overview of the scene.

Lydia and Crackers.

Dave keepin’ it real.

This is Barbara who runs the shelter. She has a lot on her plate!!! I think she told me she had 40 dogs and 50 cats at her shelter in total.

We felt like we were settling into the local scene a bit. This is not an event we would have known about when we first arrived.

Give me lanterns in trees anytime.

Tess holding a very huggable puppy named Tyrone.

The vibe towards the end of the night.

Good times all around!

  1. What a wonderful idea for an event. Good for humans and canines.
I, too ,love lanterns of all kinds but in trees they are magical.
