Tess joined me at my cardio dance class on Monday night. The teacher is the best. She has great energy and yells and whistles at us (when we need to change direction) in the best possible way.
I hear these noises in the dark of the forest every time I leave dance class. (Turn the volume up to really get a feel for the sound). They sound like an old school Atari game. I googled “what frogs sound like lasers in Costa Rica” and lo and behold someone had asked the same question on Reddit.
It turns out they are Túngara frogs. They are very common in Central America. Their scientific name is Engystomops pustulosas. Amazing!!!! 🐸.
