Playa Flamingo

We try to walk the beach and swim as much as we can while school is still out and the sun is shining. It is technically the rainy season already, but we have been having some beautiful mornings. We are told that it rains almost every day more consistently in September and October, so we are soaking up the sunshine while we can.

I love the patterns the tides make in the sand. This one looks like celery to me!

The resident spiny-tailed iguana. Lydia and Tess call her Josephina.

Our home away from home until October 1, when we move into our long-term rental in Potrero, the next town over. We are on the third floor, the corner unit on the left.

The mercado across the street from us.

While in many ways it feels like we moved to paradise, nothing is ever perfect. Playa Flamingo is geared towards tourists so the first few nights here it was impossible to fall asleep due to the loud karaoke and live music on the weekend. 🤪 The second day here we drove around desperately looking for ear plugs and finally found “tampones para oídos” at a farmacia. (The desperation was mostly on my part as I am the lightest sleeper). Luckily, things have settled down as we move into the slow season for tourism. We are told that the soundtrack to our new place includes monkey calls because it backs up onto a forest. We are really enjoying our time living so close to the beach though!
