Arrival! I was a little nervous about the immigration process as we were told over and over again that you need to show proof of departure within 90 days to get a tourist visa. We “rented” plane tickets from a web-based service as we were told many people do, but I wasn’t sure if it would fly. The immigration officer didn’t even ask to see our departure tickets despite signs posted everywhere that they were mandatory. We all got the magical 90 day stamp! Now we face the decision of whether to apply for the brand new digital nomad visa that allows you to stay in the country for a year or whether to head to Nicaragua every three months to renew our tourist visas. There are pros and cons to each approach. We will keep you updated on what we decide to do.
